Large Retailers Which Have Filed For Bankruptcy

City Sports

City Sports was founded in Boston in 1983 by Mike Kennedy and Eric Martin, who were friends and tennis partners. The sporting goods retailer soon grew and expanded across state lines. At their peak, they had 27 stores in 8 states. In March 2008, City Sports was acquired by an investment firm, Highland Capital Partners, which anticipated massive growth and expansion for the brand.

Unfortunately, this proved to be a dud and City Sports filed for bankruptcy in October 2015 and by November, its stocks were liquidated. In July 2017, City Sports announced that they were making a comeback.
