Ree and Ladd thankfully survived the early struggles of their marriage. However, her own parents were not as lucky. While she was settling into her new life at the Drummond ranch, Ree’s father, one of the area’s prominent medical doctors, was getting a divorce from her mom, a stay-at-home wife. Such an upheaval was very difficult indeed for Ree, who was just finding her footing as a young wife in a brand new setup.
