She actually began acting in 1999 and made her film debut in the 2001 film Crazy/Beautiful. She has since appeared in movies like 8 Mile, White Oleander, A Lot Like Love, and more. Taryn has also enjoyed success as a DJ and musician. In fact, she had a song on the 8 Mile soundtrack, which earned her royalties that she then used to invest in a small business – her own clothing line.
