The Andes mountain range, the world’s longest, spans an impressive 8,500 kilometers. Located in South America, it stretches across several countries, including Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. The crash incident took place in Chile.
The Andes’ expanse covers an expansive area of almost three million square kilometers. Its highest peak is Mount Aconcagua, standing at 6,962 meters, which also features some of the tallest volcanoes on the planet. Knowing that they were faced with such imposing natural landscapes, it is indeed astonishing to fathom that human beings managed to actually survive there for a staggering 72 days.
