The 45 Humans On The Aircraft
The Fairchild FH-227D aircraft, operated by the Uruguayan Air Force, took off without issues but tragically collided with a mountain in the Andes range during its flight. The charter flight was carrying 41 passengers and four crew members. What’s even more saddening is that many on board were young students.
Among the passengers, 19 were members of the Uruguayan rugby team, Old Christians Club, alongside their friends and family accompanying them. The team was en route to a match against the Chilean Old Christians Club. The devastating accident resulted in the immediate loss of ten passengers and three crew members.
