Some survivors wrote and delivered talks to complement their professional careers, while others pursued these activities full-time. Many have done both, penning their own books and also giving speeches. Writing or speaking about the subject allows them to channel their emotions. Few have kept their life-changing experience private as they endured a singular catastrophe.
As of October 13, 2022, when the 50th anniversary of the tragedy was commemorated, only one of them has passed away, Javier Methol, the eldest of the group. Despite the harrowing ordeal they faced, the survivors have shown strength and found various ways to share that unparalleled experience with the world.
