Just months after the ordeal, in August 1973, 11 mothers of the deceased young men founded the “Biblioteca Nuestros Hijos” (Our Children’s Library) in Uruguay to promote education and reading. The initiative taken by the families to establish a library in memory of their lost loved ones highlight the profound impact of the Andes tragedy.
