Cher and Chaz Bono
Cher is considered an icon in Hollywood, what with her achievements in acting as well as with her music career. Her ticket to fame in music was with the success of her folk rock husband-wife band Sonny & Cher, which she formed with her husband, Sonny Bono, during the 1960s.
Although the pair divorced in 1975, they had a daughter named Chastity Sun Bono together. Chastity realized at a young age that she was gay, and she came out to her parents as lesbian when she turned 18. She eventually came out to the public as a lesbian in 1998, and underwent a successful female-to-male gender transition in 2001. In 2010, Chastity legally changed her name to Chaz Bono, to suit her new gender identity.
