Actress Doris Day is an absolute living legend in Hollywood, having started her career first by becoming a singer and then moved on to act in movies and even star in her own TV show The Doris Day Show. It was why her fans were stunned when she announced her retirement from acting and singing in 1975, choosing to instead delve deeper into a long standing passion which she held, that of animal welfare and activism. She has set up many organisations and associations which worked to benefit any and all animals, by raising awareness, lobbying and even rescuing absurd animals.
