Jim Templeton took this photo of his five-year-old daughter, Elizabeth, at Burgh Marsh near the Solway Firth in England in 1964. When he developed the negatives, he was shocked to see a figure standing behind his daughter in the background.
The figure was wearing a white spacesuit-like outfit and a helmet with a visor. It was also much taller than Elizabeth, leading some people to believe it was an alien. The photo quickly went viral, and the figure was dubbed the “Solway Spaceman.” Kodak offered a reward for anyone who could explain the image, but no one could.
