The Time Traveler in the Circus
Irish filmmaker George Clarke posted a YouTube video in 2010, claiming he had discovered a time traveler in the 1928 Charlie Chaplin film “The Circus.” The video shows a woman in a coat and hat holding her hand up to her ear as if she were talking on a cell phone.
However, cell phones were not invented until the 1970s and did not become commercially available until the 1980s. The most likely explanation is that the woman in the video was holding her hand up to her ear for another reason, such as to adjust her hat or to hear better.
