Even so, the now-retired footballer did live up to his reputation throughout his time in the league, and even after a leg injury that many assumed would end his career, Smith returned stronger than ever, earning himself the ‘Comeback Of The Year’ title in 2012.
Word has it that it takes millions and such enticing perks for ‘ESPN’ to have and keep the ex-quarterback as an analyst. $8.2 million annually might seem absurd, but it makes perfect sense for a man of Smith’s caliber.
