Bill Gates: ~ $147 Million, Washington
As of 2017, Bill Gates is the second richest man in the world (right behind tech rival Jeff Bezos). With a net worth just north of $90 billion, concepts like loans or mortgages haven’t been in Gates’ vocabulary for quite some time. Gates’ sprawling home, located in Medina, just outside Seattle, is not so much a home as a compound, with a library, a theater, and a boat slip. For privacy’s sake, Gates even acquired several of his neighbors’ properties, bringing the value of his house up to a shocking $147 million. The house, which has been dubbed Xanadu 2.0, has property taxes estimated at $1 million per year!
