Cheers brought handsome actor Ted Danson a lot of fame and fortune, but he wasn’t doing that great in the relationship department. During shooting the movie Pontiac Moon in 1994, he had given up on love as he had just finalized his second divorce and gone through a very ugly and public breakup with actress Whoopi Goldberg.
Luckily, his co-star and “screen wife” in the movie, actress Mary Steenburgen, had a 5-hour canoe ride scene with him and that’s how they fell in love. As they like to say, they left as friends but they came back in love. Mary had also divorced her first husband and found love again, so this was like a new chapter for the two of them. They now have a large family, as both Ted and Mary have 2 kids each from their previous marriages.
