Meet Abby And Brittany Hensel: The World’s Most Fabulous Conjoined Twins

The growing pains that other teens face seem minor compared to those of the Hensel twins. Brittany’s body stopped growing by age 12, while Abby started growing taller. That could soon become a functional and movement issue without medical intervention.

The girls’ parents and doctors took the tough call to have Abby undergo surgery on her spine to stunt her vertical growth. The surgeons also operated to reduce the impact of scoliosis or excessive sideways curvature of the spine, which the girls were prone to. Fortunately, the girls’ quality of life improved as they walked a little easier.
