The Most Famous Conjoined Twins in History

According to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, one in 50,000 to 60,000 births are conjoined twins; around 70 percent are female, with a majority being stillborn. But the most famous were Chang and Eng Bunker, originally from Siam (now Thailand) and were born conjoined.

Because of their fame in the United States, the term “Siamese Twins” was coined before being replaced by ‘conjoined twins.’ They were farmers, married two sisters, and fathered many children. The brothers traveled the world for exhibitions where people clamored to see them. In 1875, Chang passed away, and Eng followed three hours later.
