Herschel Walker – $10 Million
Ever since his beginning as a running back for the New Jersey Generals, Herschel Walker was able to land deals that were better than most of his teammates. His first contract of $5 million exceeded the salary cap of $1.8 million set by the USFL, so part of it was recorded as personal services.
Thanks to his success, he later moved to the Dallas Cowboys for a salary of $5 million and then finally to the New York Giants for a $4.8 million contract. Walker managed to invest his money and opened his chicken distribution company in 1999, which generated an annual income of $70 million.
