Hammer is one of the forerunners of hip-hop, widely credited for popularizing the genre in the early 90s with songs like U Can’t Touch This, 2 Legit 2 Quit, and more, which has led to the genre as we know it today. Despite his success, he experienced financial difficulties in the late 90s, leading him to file for bankruptcy. Since then, he had been more shrewd with his investments. These days, he’s been heavily into digital media, working with app developers to create a mobile app. He’s also become a teacher of sorts of new media, doing workshops and the like.
