Actor Leonard Whiting may have had a short movie career, but it’s a rather distinguished one. His biggest claim to fame was starring as Romeo in the 1968 Franco Zeffirelli film, Romeo and Juliet, for which he won a Golden Globe award for New Star of the Year. He was said to have been personally handpicked by the acclaimed filmmaker out of 300 young men who auditioned for the role. However, his career in movies did not progress much from there. Rather, he shifted his focus to acting in theater, and he was best lauded for his role as the Artful Dodger, a London production of Oliver!. Now almost in his 70’s, he reportedly lives in his native London.
