Honolulu is the capital of the famous Hawaii island, and according to legend, people started settling there in 1100. The town was officially declared capital by King Kamehameha III on August 31st, 1850. Over the years, Honolulu’s location has played a significant role in the world wars, having been a staging area for WWII after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Interestingly, some of Honolulu’s income is from military expenditure.
