The aura of Woodstock was such that even the stars of the festival came down to party with the crowd. Among them was Jefferson Airplane’s vocalist Grace Slick and their drummer Spencer Dryden’s wife, Sally Mann.
In an interview with Rolling Stones, Grace shared that the band almost never made it to the festival since the roads became blocked with cars for days. Eventually, the organizer had to arrange for an aerial ride for the band members – A helicopter, not an airplane, ensured that the audience could listen to Somebody to Love!
