Alain Ducasse – ~$10 million

Alain Ducasse’s rise to culinary stardom has been a rather traditional one, which has been quite rare of late in this age of televised cooking shows and mobile apps. After completing culinary school, the French-born chef apprenticed in distinguished French institutions such as Pavillon Landais, which led to stints as head chef in L’amandier and later, La Terrasse, both in Mougins. In 1996, he finally took the plunge and opened his own self-named restaurant in Le Parc, which earned him 3 stars. Since then, he has also opened popular restaurants in Las Vegas, New York, and Washington D.C.
