Large Retailers Which Have Filed For Bankruptcy

The Bon-Ton

From its proud beginnings as a humble millinery and dry goods store in 1898, The Bon-Ton expanded into a large department store chain in the 60’s. In the 90’s and 2000’s, it went through a period of rapid expansion, which caused numerous financial troubles due to overspending.

The company attempted to sell its stocks in the 2000’s, but was unsuccessful. Finally, in February 2018, The Bon-Ton downed it’s shutters one for the last time as it filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. As with this kind of bankruptcy, the company had to liquidate its assets and was sold to a new owner, who is now operating the once-respected brand as an e-commerce website.
