Large Retailers Which Have Filed For Bankruptcy

Eastern Outfitters, also known as Eastern Mountain Sports, is one of the brands under the Vestis Retail Group, along with other notable brands in the sports merchandise arena, Bob’s Stores and Sports Chalet. In April 2016, Vestis filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, citing consumer shifts in spending, high retail costs, and rising competition.
Just a year later in 2017, Sports Direct International was allowed to acquire the group, including Eastern Outfitters and Bob’s Stores for $101 million in cash. Here’s hoping that this second lease on life will allow the brand to continue on its legacy of quality sports items.
