Pacsun is yet another brand aimed for the youth. Founded in 1980, it was primarily known for its surf and skate apparel and merchandise, including accessories and footwear. It started out as just a small surf shop in California’s Newport Beach.
Much of its success through the years was due to its edgy advertising campaigns, including a 2012 collaboration with sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner and its famous “Dress Irresponsibly” campaign of 2011. Unfortunately, issues with long-term debt led to the company filing for bankruptcy in April 2016. After decreasing their store count and debt, however, they were able to re-emerge 5 months later.
