Frederick’s of Hollywood
Frederick’s of Hollywood had a unique position in the retail industry as a well-known source for women’s lingerie. It was founded in 1947 by Frederick Mellinger who invented several kinds of lingerie, including the push-up brassiere. Its flagship store Hollywood Boulevard was even a landmark for almost 60 years.
It first filed for bankruptcy in 2001 and was able to recover 2 years later. It filed for Chapter 11 again in 2015 and has since been acquired by the Authentic Brands Group (ABG). Frederick’s of Hollywood now exists solely as an e-commerce platform.
