John Lennon once said that life happens when people are busy making other plans. Ree is definitely proof of that. In fact, as a young woman in the 80s, she never dreamed of becoming The Pioneer Woman. Instead, she dreamed of attending college, which she did in the late 80s. She first studied journalism, but ended up changing college courses and studying gerontology instead, which focused on the many aspects of ageing and senior care. She earned her university degree in 1991 and planned to move to Chicago to study to become a lawyer. This, however, never happened.
