Ree, the city girl, actually met Ladd, the country boy, normally enough. Ree had come home to Oklahoma to visit her parents before she pursued a second university degree in law in Chicago. She went out with old friends to a local bar when a cowboy who was tall, strong, and mysterious caught her eye. Ree claims that she was most attracted to his hair color, which was noticeably silvery gray, despite him being clearly a young man. This cowboy would turn out to be Ladd, her very own “Marlboro Man,” which is the moniker that she has used on him since she started publishing her blog and later, her books.
