The most influential people in U.S. history that you won’t believe are still alive

Henry Kissinger — 100 Years Old (Deceased 2023)

Henry Kissinger stepped into the limelight as a key architect of the United States foreign policy in the 1970s. He began his role as National Security Advisor in 1969 before becoming Secretary of State. Henry’s masterstroke was the 1972 opening to China, marking a dramatic shift in Cold War dynamics.

He was also a crucial player in the negotiations to end the Vietnam War, leading to the 1973 Paris Peace Accords, for which he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Henry’s strategy and diplomacy in the Middle East after the Yom Kippur War in 1973 were defining moments of his career that are still debated by scholars and policymakers. Kissinger passed away on November 29, 2023
