Beverly Cleary – 105 Years Old
The American writer who has written best-selling books which hold so much life and humor would be Beverly Cleary. Her books portray the events and problems faced by school-aged girls and boys in real life.
Beverly’s lived on a farm close to Yamhill, Oregon, and later moved to Portland, which quickly became a major setting for most of her books. After earning a degree in 1938, she went on to take the second one in library science the year after. It shouldn’t surprise you to learn that with all of these degrees, Beverly has been a recipient of many awards, including the Newbery Medal in 1984 for Dear Mr. Henshaw.
