Fashion brand A’Gaci is a real cautionary tale for retailers everywhere. Founded in 1971, the Texas-based brand went through a spate of rapid expansion in the past few years, even opening 21 new stores in the last couple of years just as mall traffic was seen to be declining.
Because of this, the company spread itself too thin and is now looking to close 49 stores after filing for bankruptcy early this year. It also suffered damages and a huge loss in sale from a series of hurricanes in 2017.
