Since it was founded in 1945, Joyce Leslie enjoyed the distinction of being the go-to place for women in search of basic sweaters, camis, tanks, ski jackets, and even fragrances. It mostly operated in the East Coast with 47 stores in New York and more around New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.
In January 2016, it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy as it was unable to compete in the e-commerce space. It also owed millions of dollars to as many as 5,000 creditors. Joyce Leslie eventually liquidated its assets and sold its leases and intellectual property.
